Admission Mobilisation
We combine online marketing with offline door-to-door campaigns to help you achieve your admission goals for every academic year.
The curriculum ensures a student’s complete development in the physical, cognitive, socioemotional and linguistic domains. It is designed to maximise the learning outcomes, ensure conceptual clarity and prepare students to meet life’s challenges.
The technology-enabled curriculum is integrated with TeachNext, our digital classroom solution to bring abstract concepts alive. These concepts are introduced through real-life examples to help the students retain and remember them easily.
The curriculum can be seamlessly mapped to your school with our state-of-the-art academic management platform, NextLMS. We also provide detailed lesson plans, curriculum training sessions for teachers and observational feedback while you implement the curriculum.
K12 Curriculum Development is the process of creating and improving the curriculum of K—12 courses. K12 curricula can be developed using a variety of approaches. However, most of these approaches have a few elements in common — need and task analysis, design of learning objectives and expected outcomes, selecting appropriate pedagogical methods and assessment tools, authoring and reviewing the content followed by implementation and evaluation.
What is the process of K12 Curriculum Development?
The process of K12 Curriculum Development is divided into the following important steps — identifying needs, formulating objectives, selecting and structuring content, choosing and organising methodologies, evaluating and reassessing for balance. These steps are explained in greater detail below.
Step 1: Identifying Needs
Before the planning stage, a general diagnosis of problems and difficulties in the curriculum is performed. Students’ cumulative reports, recorded lectures, parents’ feedback and case studies are used for the same.
Step 2: Formulating Objectives
Based on the diagnosed problems, objectives for the curriculum implementation will be formulated. Concepts, ideas, attitudes, sensitivities, thinking, habits and skills to be taught are also mapped out.
Step 3: Selecting Content
The objectives provide the basis for appropriate content selection. The topic and basic ideas of the content are unit-by-unit for each subject, class and level. The content chosen should be inclusive of the broader areas of learning under the curriculum.
Step 4: Structuring Content
Once the content is selected, it has to be configured sequentially from simple and concrete to complex and abstract while connecting facts, ideas and relationships.
Steps 5 and 6: Choosing and Organising Methodologies
The pedagogy should be chosen to provide what students need to acquire behavioural competencies and learning experiences through listening, observing, reading, writing, analysing and discussion.
Step 7: Evaluating
Evaluation is a continuous diagnostic process of the results of the implementation of the curriculum and its outcomes. This step determines whether the previous steps were properly carried out and the intended objectives were achieved or not.
Step 8: Reassessing for Balance
Apart from checking the curriculum for overall consistency, it is also important to check whether its individual aspects are reflecting the core ideas, provide appropriate learning experiences and outcomes and contribute to the overall progress of the curriculum.
What is the importance of K12 Curriculum Development?
The curriculum is the heart of the student’s school experience. K12 Curriculum Development is important because of the following reasons:
Defined purpose:
Constructing a curriculum provides structure to the process of teaching and helps set specific educational objectives and expected outcomes.
Improvement of quality:
Revising the curriculum on a regular basis is imperative to serve the ever-changing needs of students and society.
Sequencing:
The learning activities in a curriculum are ordered in an age-appropriate developmental sequence. This helps achieve intended goals and outcomes in an effective manner.
Teaching-learning strategy:
Curriculum development entails developing innovative teaching-learning strategies and instructional materials that help in proper implementation and effective delivery.
Learning experiences:
Selecting and organising learning experiences in terms of the study matter and activities help learners achieve the goals and objectives of teaching comfortably.
Holistic education:
Curriculum development brings the necessary improvement in the teaching process and the learning environment. This enables the holistic development of students and prepares them for life outside the classroom.
